Founded in 2017, Hydro X (formerly NRGStorEdge) has developed a disruptive hydrogen energy storage technology.
Supported by Israel's Ministry of Energy and Innovation Authority, together with a group of investors including the energy investment house OSEG, Hydro X technology redefines hydrogen storage and transportation and unlocks the hydrogen era.

Radical, Disruptive Hydrogen Storage Technology
Hydro X core technology breakthrough is in both the catalyst and the process:
The catalyst material is made of supported palladium (or equivalent) i.e. palladium on substrate; the catalyst’s manufacturing process is Hydro X proprietary knowhow.
The process of chemical charging of hydrogen on potassium bicarbonate (a baking soda-like material), converts it into a solution containing water and format.

Formate Bicarbonate Cycle for Hydrogen & Energy Storage
Water-based: the greenest hydrogen
Hydro X has developed a real-green hydrogen storage technology based on a mix of water and a material similar to baking soda. Competitive technologies use dibenzyl toluene or toluene, all toxic materials and less safe than Hydro X aqueous liquid.
Uses water as a storage medium
Not inflammable, nontoxic, neutral
Hydro X addresses the main challenge preventing the emergence of the hydrogen era: hydrogen’s low overall life-cycle energy efficiency
The main obstacle preventing the emergence of the hydrogen era: the inability to store and transport hydrogen in an economical and energy efficient fashion. The overall well-to-wheel energy efficiency of the current mature technologies for the storage and transport of hydrogen including high pressure and cryogenic hydrogen and ammonia remains the weak spot of hydrogen: 25-40% compared to 70-90% for batteries.

Unparalleled energy efficiency
Competitive technologies require high temperature and pressure resulting in high energy consumption, expensive costs and impractical processes. Hydro X uses commercially available inexpensive and commonly used material for the charge/discharge cycle, at near-room temperature and pressure conditions, involving very low energy consumption.
Energy Efficient
Charging at 35⁰C and 10 bar and discharging at 70⁰C and 1 bar require a very small amount of energy.
Cost Advantage
Main competition, requires 13.3 kWh to load and discharge 1kg of hydrogen (while about 16kWh can be delivered from 1kg of hydrogen by fuel cells).
A Radical Disruption
Hydro X technology which requires only 2-2.5kWh, is game changing, enabling the emergence of the hydrogen era.
Powerful vertical applications
HydroX technology offers various vertical solutions for the hydrogen
era. By storing hydrogen in water, HydroX enables safe and efficient
hydrogen handling, transportation and operations.
Renewable Energy
Linking the sites where green hydrogen is most efficiently produced with the sites where it is consumed.
Industry
The next generation of hydrogen distribution.
Mobility
High-capacity hydrogen handling in the existing fuel infrastructure.

I believe that water will one day be employed as fuel, that hydrogen and oxygen which constitute it, used singly or together, will furnish an inexhaustible source of heat and light, of an intensity of which coal is not capable. Jules Verne, "The mysterious island“
The hydrogen energy storage technology developed by Hydro X (formerly NRGStorEdge) makes Jules Verne’s vision a reality.
